Sonika Van Der Merwe

Sonika Van Der Merwe grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. She holds a Bachelors of Education in Early Childhood.  She has more than 15 years of teaching experience ranging from Nursery to Key Stage 1. She did supply teaching in London after graduating and worked in various schools across South Africa, including government and private schools, where she gained valuable experience with different curriculums. She worked in Sharjah for two years at an American Curriculum school before joining the Reach family in 2019.

Sonika is excited about her new role at Reach British School. She is eager to gain further experience in the EYFS and believes that she could have valuable input in our young students’ education. Together with her team, they strive to promote the school’s vision to be ‘the school of choice’ and promote ‘Amazing Learning.”
