The students at Reach British School were recently lucky enough to enjoy a week of classes of programming and robotics. Using small robots called Ozobots, supplied by outside provider EasyPeasy Coding, Mr. Paul taught his classes how to write simple codes for the robots to follow. Using a combination of coloured blocks the students designed a track for the robots to follow. Along the way, the robots performed a variety of tasks based on the colour codes the students had placed on the track. Seeing the robots move around their table really engaged the students and lots of fun was had. Students were rushing around the classroom to show off the tricks their robots could perform.
After first having time to get familiar with the codes the students then undertook a number of puzzle tasks before finishing with a competition! Each group create two ‘race tracks’ for their robots and invited other groups to calculate which track was the fastest.
Students that wish to take their understanding of programming and robotics further are invited to join Mr. Paul’s Extra Curricular Activity – Robotics Club after school each Monday
