At the beginning of April we were very privileged to have Sally join from the U.K. as our new Head of Early Year Foundation Stage, which has grown to 280 students across FS1 and FS2.
Sally has since worked hard to bring the Power of Play into the learning environment and grow the resources available to our students both inside and outside of the classroom. Many of the parents have already seen the changes within our Early Years foyer, where our children are enjoying being independent learners, creating grand designs, problem solving with numbers, acting and singing on the stage, mark-making and reading.
Outside is just as exciting – with children active in the mud kitchen, the sand pit or climbing to different heights using materials like tyres, crates and planks. They are also making roads for their bikes & scooters. We are fortunate to have such large spaces that the children can use their imagination and create their own learning through play. She has even turned an unused classroom into a Messy Arts and Crafts studio – look out for our budding artists!
More about Sally:
“I moved to Abu Dhabi in April 2017 to join Reach British School as Head of Early Years, having worked in many primary schools in the United Kingdom. While I now live in Abu Dhabi with my husband, John, my two sons, Oliver and Marcus, are both living and working in London.
With a passion for rich and challenging play based learning, I believe I bring a wealth of expertise to this role. I believe that effective Early Years education is essential to equip children with a thirst for knowledge, skills and understanding that will motivate and develop their academic and social abilities to succeed in our ever-changing and challenging world. I am enthusiastic about the opportunities offered by Reach British School, its community and the country itself and I look forward to being part of the school’s journey towards being an outstanding provider of high quality learning for families in Abu Dhabi.”
