Celebrating International Day

International Day is an opportunity to bring fun into learning, and to bring the huge number of nationalities we have in school together, allowing the students to teach each other about their heritage. Today was the school's biggest celebration of internationalism and intercultural awareness to date, and a great way to end the Spring Term.

Families put a lot of work into the outfits, and as we always have with these days the parents generously provided plenty of native food for each country. Every class chose a country to showcase, with Year 4 girls performing a Sri Lankan dance, Year 1 making their own British t-shirts to celebrate the Queen of England, and Year 8 boys teaching the rest of the school an Emirati dance. The oldest students guided the younger students around the school so everyone got to see each others work, and the Primary School had a competitive orienteering challenge where they had to complete a County Quiz. It was a celebratory mood in the classrooms, and thank you to all the teachers for their hard work, and to the parents for their fantastic food and costumes. We hope this can become an annual event at Reach British School.
